First of all, we don't have an airport! (See Chris's poem below)

This Stanstead is a quiet and peaceful village, situated in West Suffolk, hidden between the tourist hotspots of Long Melford, Lavenham, and Clare.

There are about 140 homes, with a variety of old and new buildings, small and large, and families stay here - there are several that have a couple of generations in the village. But there are always very welcome new residents, who soon realise that it is a great place to live.

There are many footpaths, providing stunning views of farmland and woodland for all of us dog-walkers, wandering around in rain and sun and meeting up for a natter.  A map of the footpaths is available to view here.

We have our Church and a Community Centre, and our community get-togethers are shared between them.

There is a very useful magazine produced monthly by the Benefice and available in Stanstead from Caroline Jones on 281572/07913 842470 for only £10 a year, delivered.

ODE TO THE SAT NAV

“Where's the airport mate?,” he shouts
“Me Sat Nav says it should be ‘ere!”
He cranes his neck, he turns about
Scratches his head and sighs, ”Oh dear!”

“I'm sorry, chum, you're nowhere near
The place you want's an hour away.
You tell your Sat Nav, loud and clear,
It's Stanstead, but without the ‘a'!”

Thanks to Chris Cox !
