Annual Ride and Stride
The Suffolk Historic Churches Fund (SHCT) is a non-denominational charity started in 1973 and is run by volunteers. It raises funds to help rescue and preserve our county’s rich heritage of places of worship. It contributed £10,000 towards the 2010 repair of the tower of St James’ Church, Stanstead.
Its main source of income, the annual county-wide Ride & Stride, is on Saturday 14th September. Bike riders and walkers organise sponsorship for the number of multi-denominational places of worship they visit on the day. Churches, Chapels, Meeting Houses etc will be open and volunteers will provide light refreshments and sign sponsorship forms.
If you wish to take part, sponsorship forms and a list of places of worship open on the day are available from Freda on 01787 280991. Half the funds you raise go to SHCF and half to the place of worship of your choice.
